Monthly theme - October 2023 - Geospatial Data

Published on October 2, 2023

Each month we introduce a new theme to The Data Lab Community. This is a way for us to anchor discussions, content and events each month, and also allows us to take our community members on a journey of growth and development in the longer term.

This October our theme is 'Geospatial Data'.

Geospatial data has rapidly grown in importance, and plays a crucial role across numerous sectors, from urban planning and agriculture to disaster management and navigation. In our data-driven world, geospatial information provides a dynamic layer of context, enabling better decision-making, resource allocation, and risk assessment. With the huge rise of GPS-enabled devices, satellites, and mapping technologies, we now have an unprecedented ability to collect, analyse, and utilise geospatial data.

Geospatial data not only enhances efficiency and innovation but also plays a critical role in addressing global challenges, such as climate change and sustainable development. As we continue to harness the power of geospatial data, its importance continues to grow, shaping our understanding of the world and guiding us towards a more informed and interconnected future.

Get involved!

  • We've created a new Geospatial Group, where you can discuss, share and learn about geospatial data with other community members!
  • Keep an eye out for some community events around our Geospatial Data theme! We'll be announcing the details very soon.
  • If you have an interest or expertise in this area and you'd like to contribute (for example through joining a panel / case studies / blogs / interviews / workshops / events etc), we'd love to hear from you. Just drop us an email at [email protected] for more info or go ahead and share anything you think would be of value in the community!
