Geospatial Fringe // August 24 - Open Call for Submissions!

Published on June 5, 2024

This August, our theme in The Data Lab Community will be Geospatial Data. Among the activities taking place during the month is a ‘Geospatial Fringe’, a programme of events organised by individuals and organisations in our community and wider network.

We're delighted to announce that our call for submissions to the Geospatial Fringe is now OPEN!

If you are involved in geospatial data, whether that be as a professional, student or academic then we'd love to hear from you as we build a programme of events throughout August! You will have the freedom to design your own event(s) and make them as unique and creative as you wish. Whether you want to host a meetup, webinar, workshop, panel discussion, hackathon, or a networking session, we invite you to take part in our Fringe programme! Events can be hosted online or in-person, with no geographical restrictions.

Our goals and objectives
We want to help raise awareness and understanding of geospatial data and shine a light on the great work of organisations and communities working within this ecosystem. The Data Lab has an extensive network across sectors and industries, a highly engaged community platform with 5000+ members, and a popular programme of conferences and events, meaning we are well placed to amplify activity and accelerate connectivity between individuals and organisations.

How will it work?
If you would like to get involved by organising your own Fringe event(s) throughout August 2024, then we can offer you promotional support via our community, mailing lists, social media and other marketing channels. We'll also provide you with a comms and branding pack to help you promote your event.

The Data Lab Community's events board will act as the focal point of the Geospatial Fringe, so we'll host the registration site for your event there (you can also list it elsewhere!) so that it has maximum reach with our ever-growing audience of data & AI enthusiasts.
